And that is just for a start.
The local administration party, Lakas-CMD Kampi, quietly observed the first day of the Election 2010 campaign period on Friday March 26 by going on a Visita Iglecia from Ina ng Manaoag to Senior Tesoro of Calasiao. That night, they held their first campaign meeting in the barangay of Villegas.
Former Mayor Artemio Chan is the mayoral candidate of the administration Lakas-CMD Kampi with his works-not-words platform of “ipagpatuloy ang kaunlarang atin nang nasimulan”. He has no vice-mayor running mate but has a complete line-up for councilors: Kgd. Kelvin Chan, Kgd./Atty. Joseph Frianeza, former Vice-Mayor Dr. Carlos Gramata, Ex-Kgd. Jovito Estaris and four (4) Punong Barangays namely Fely Ann Maligsa of Imbalbalatong, Simeon Quinto of District 2, Rogelio Amansec of Alipangpang and Herminigildo Ibaan of Palguyod.
The opposition began their campaign with a motorcade and their proclamation rally held at the open stage beside the gate of the St. Jude Parish Church, and across the Jose Magno Sports and Civic Center/Gym and the Rural Health Unit. And definitely within seeing, hearing and shouting distance to/from the Municipio. They scheduled Villa Pozorrubio that evening for their 1st campaign meeting and Villegas and Imbalbalatong for the next day.
Former Mayor now District 1 Punong Barangay Manuel “Noli” Venezuela, local Liberal Party Chairman, introduced their seven (7) official candidates for the party lineup who, he announced, had come together because of “prinsipyo” and their desire for “pagbabago ng Pozorrubio” beginning with the endorsement of mayoral candidate Ex-Kgd./businessman Ernesto Go. The other six (6) candidates are his candidates for councilors: Kagawad and businesswomen Gloria A. Salcedo and Atty. Salud P. Aldana, Palacpalac Punong Barangay Herminigildo Cendaña (to replace businessman Reynaldo Bungay), businessmen Reynaldo Magno III and Cresencio Ritualo Jr., and PNP (ret.) Alfredo B. Palado.
Also present was candidate for vice-governor, former vice-governor Oscar Lambino and candidate for 5th District congressman Demetrio Demetria.
Conspicuous in their absence were Go’s supposed running mate Vice Mayor Reynaldo Reyes, Kgd. Lilibeth N. Abellera Haque, Ex-Kgd. Miguel A. Abalos, Sr. and guest candidate Ex-Kgd. Roberto P. Campo Jr.
